NYPD: 8 Injured, 2 Critically, In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Eight people were hurt when a car slammed into another vehicle and pedestrians in Brooklyn Friday night, the NYPD said.
The incident happened at around 9 p.m. at Flatbush Avenue and Farragut Road.
Surveillance video shows a car moving at a high rate of speed and slamming into another vehicle at the intersection before barreling on to the curb and striking pedestrians. The car that was struck also hit another vehicle.
Witnesses told CBS2's Jessica Moore the driver of a silver Mercedes was trying to beat a red light when it apparently lost control.
Two suffered critical injuries.
"We heard three loud crashes, so when we came outside, we seen a car up on the sidewalk, and there were people up on the car," a witness told Moore.
"This guy was trying to beat the light, and some guy was trying to turn, and then they both crashed and that's why it's over there," witness Daniel Escamilla said.
Four of the injured were pedestrians and four were in cars.
