Suspect In Custody In Attempted Abduction Of 11-Year-Old Girl In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect is in custody in connection with an attempted abduction of a young girl in Brooklyn while she walked to school.

Around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, investigators said an 11-year-old girl was walking with her 12-year-old brother near Elton Street and Pitkin Avenue in East New York when they were approached by a man.

Police said he then snatched the girl from behind and exposed himself to her. Witnesses said she began screaming and kicking and the suspect fled.

"She looked like she was really hurt, really scared, really shooken up," said witness Aussie Phillips.

Speaking with CBS2 in Spanish, the girl's father said she was traumatized.
