Police: Man Punched Woman In Head On A Train In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Thursday for a man who punched a woman on a subway train in Brooklyn without provocation.

Around 6:05 pm. Monday, Nov. 23, the 29-year-pld woman was on an inbound A Train approaching the Jay Street-MetroTech station, when the man approached her and punched her in the head with a closed fist, police said.

The suspect ran off afterward, police said.

The victim suffered pain and swelling to her head, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 50s, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds, with short, close-cut brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a black shirt underneath, a gray hoody sweater, blue jeans, and black sneakers.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
