Bronx Teaching Assistant Accused Of Having Sex With 14-Year-Old
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - A teaching assistant in the Bronx is being accused of having sex with a minor.
Police say 29-year-old Maria Contreras had sex with a 14-year-old boy in her Bronx home last November.
Contreras was a substitute paraprofessional at Bronx Academy of Letters on Morris Avenue, where the 14-year-old was a student, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.
Contreras is charged with six counts of rape and two counts of a criminal sex act.
DOE Spokeswoman Devora Kaye said the allegations are incredibly disturbing and said Contreras has been fired.
"We are working with NYPD on their investigation," Kaye said in a statement.
