Police: Man Assaults Woman Waiting At Bronx Subway Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a suspect who they said assaulted a woman in the subway.

It happened just after 5 a.m. back on Jan. 30 at the Westchester Avenue and Simpson Street subway station in the Bronx.

Police said a 51-year-old woman was waiting in the mezzanine area when a man walked up and started hitting her. He punched her in the face and body before fleeing the station, police said.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

The suspect was seen on surveillance video.

Police describe him as a 50-year-old Hispanic man, about 5'10" and weighing 250 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hat,a black waist length coat and black jeans.
