Police: Man Tries To Steal Cereal, Slashes Bronx Supermarket Worker

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man who they said slashed a store employee after trying to steal cereal in the Bronx.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Pioneer supermarket on White Plains Road.

Police said a man walked into the store and tried to leave with cereal without paying for it. When the employee tried to stop him, police said the man pulled out a small knife and cut the worker on the left side of his face.

The suspect then fled the scene. The victim refused medical attention.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect. They describe him only as a man in his mid-20s to mid-30s and between 5'8" and 5'11" tall.
