NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a McDonald's employee in the Bronx, police said Thursday.

Rafael Gonzalez, 48, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday night, police said. He was arrested on murder and manslaughter charges, police said.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of a McDonald's on Broadway and West 236th Street.

Police said Adam Garcia, 28, got into a dispute with the suspect after he overstayed his welcome in the restaurant's bathroom.

When Garcia went into the parking lot, police said Gonzalez pulled out a knife and stabbed him repeatedly as he was walking to his car.

Garcia went back into the restaurant and collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital where he died, police said.

He leaves behind a young son who is about 2 years old.
