FBI: Bronx Man Extorted Teen Girls For Child Pornography
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx man is facing charges after allegedly exploiting minors by using extortion to receive child pornography.
Kelvin Acosta, 26, was arrested on March 29 after an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In one instance, Acosta allegedly gained access to a 13-year-old girl's Facebook account and threatened to send nude photos of her to friends and relatives unless she provided him with explicit images, according to officials. Acosta allegedly gained access to the girl's account by falsely promising he could get her a job at Barnes & Nobles.
Acosta is also accused of coercing a 17-year-old girl to provide explicit images of herself via video chat after threatening to send videos of her having sex to family members. Acosta also demanded the teen pay him $600, according to officials.
Acosta faces charges of enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child, receipt of child pornography and extortion, officials said.
If convicted of the first charge, Acosta could face life in prison.
