Police Looking To Question Grandson In Elderly Man's Stabbing Death In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Investigators say they want to talk to the 37-year-old grandson of an 83-year-old man who was found stabbed to death in the Bronx, police said Friday.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said Marcus Dobson was seen on surveillance video entering and leaving his grandfather Reynold Dobson's apartment at 120 Bellamy Loop.
"We have him going in there about 8 at night and then leaving right before 10," Boyce said. "We have neighbors who hear an argument coming from the apartment."
Boyce said the younger Dobson then left the apartment and walked across the street, where he hijacked a car from a gas station and drove off.
"That person who he hijacked the car from was actually run over, her foot was run over as he fled," he said.
Reynold Dobson was later found inside his apartment with multiple stab wounds to his torso, police said. He was pronounced dead the scene.
Boyce said police caught Dobson in the stolen car in Sayreville, New Jersey, where he is currently in custody.
"We found some markings on his hands," Boyce said. "We also have the murder weapon in the apartment as well."
Boyce said the grandson has a psychiatric history and 13 prior arrests.
