Man Arrested For Trying To Lure 3 Girls In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been arrested for trying to lure several girls in the Bronx earlier this week, and who police say may have struck before.

Police said 26-year-old Osita Enweronye turned himself in on Saturday. He has been charged with luring a child to commit a crime and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Police said Enweronye approached a 13-year-old girl at Westervelt and Allerton avenues last month, grabbing her on the arm before she was able to break away and flee the location.

"My legs were shaking I was thinking in my head something bad is going to happen, I'm never going to see my parents," the girl, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

While she tried to ignore him and get away, Enweronye reportedly intensified his pursuit, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported. Police said the girl managed to scare Enweronye off when she yelled out to a friend nearby and was able to make it to school unharmed.

Police say Enweronye was hoping to prey on a weaker girl when he came back to Allerton Wednesday morning, targeting three girls ages 11 to 13 -- all within 20 minutes.

At around 7:50 a.m.,  Enweronye approached a 12-year-old girl near Eastchester Road and Allerton Avenue and told her to 'go with him' according to authorities. The girl fled the location.

Just 10 minutes later, he allegedly struck again, this time on Kingsland and Allerton avenues. Police say Enweronye commented on an 11-year-old girl's looks and said he wanted to take her shopping. Once again the victim fled the location.

Rhen, just five minutes later Enweronye allegedly approached a 12-year-old near Westervelt and Allerton avenues, telling her to "come with him." That girl also fled the location.

Now the first luring victim's mother worries for other children who may not be as lucky as her daughter.

"They can be easily duped into getting into someone's car," she said. "You never know.
