Bronx Man Accused In Abduction, Stabbing Waives Extradition
PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former New Jersey police officer accused of abducting his 3-year-old daughter after allegedly stabbing her mother in New York has waived extradition.
During a hearing in Paterson Thursday, 47-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela agreed to return to New York to face trial.
Valenzuela was arrested on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton Tuesday about three hours after police said he fled with his daughter, Rebecca, after allegedly stabbing the girl's mother multiple times in their Bronx apartment.
On Wednesday, state police released dashcam video of Valenzuela's arrest.

The video shows several officers with their guns drawn pull Valenzuela from the vehicle as other officers race to the other side and pull the young girl to safety.
The motive in the case remains unclear.
The child's mother remains hospitalized, but is expected to survive.
The girl was unharmed and is now in the care of relatives.
Valenzuela was and Irvington police officer until March 2002 when he was suspended after charges were filed against him in connection with his November 2001 arrest of a taxi driver.
He was found guilty of filing false reports and stripped of his badge.
