Broncos Safety And Paterson, NJ Native Mike Adams Looking Forward To Big Game

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - The Super Bowl is very much a home game for a Denver Broncos player who grew up near the Meadowlands.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, Broncos safety Mike Adams grew up in Paterson and still has roots there.

"I still have family there, I still have friends there, nothing changes. It's still the same old me," said Adams. "It's great. What more could you ask for?"

The 32-year-old is still friends with former Passaic Tech teammate Gerald Hayes, who played in a Super Bowl with Arizona.

"He was just telling me that enjoy the ride, enjoy everything. But when it's gametime, put the game face on and play," Adams said. "I think you just got to have that want to. You gotta want to do it, you gotta compete."

Over the weekend, Adams said if Denver wins, he'd walk back to Paterson in his uniform. He now says that was a joke.

The veteran is in his second season with the Broncos following three seasons with the 49ers and five seasons with the Browns.

Super Bowl XLVIII between the Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will be played at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 2.
