Broken Switch In Harlem Snags A, B, C, D Trains

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The A, B, C and D subway lines were snagged in Upper Manhattan as the Friday afternoon rush began, due to a broken switch at 135th Street.

The broken switch on the southbound express track forced all service to the local track between 168th and 125th streets, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The problem was expected to persist through the evening rush as crews worked to make repairs.

Through the evening rush, the following service changes were to be in place:

• Southbound A trains are running local between 168th and 125th streets;

• Southbound D trains are running local between 145th and 125th streets;

• Northbound B trains are running on the R line from DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn to Whitehall-South Ferry, where they turn back to Brooklyn;

• Northbound D trains are running local from 145th Street to Norwood-205th Street in the Bronx.

B Train customers were advised to take the D Train to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and transfer to the B or Q train there, or to take the F Train to Jay Street-MetroTech and transfer to the B Train, which will be making stops there.

B Train customers going to local stations along Central Park West should take a D Train and then switch to the C Train, and B Train riders in the Bronx should take the D Train, the MTA said.

B Train customers in Brooklyn going to Sixth Avenue destinations were advised to switch to the northbound D Train at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, switch to a northbound F Train at Jay Street-MetroTech, or take to the Q Train to 34th Street-Herald Square and transfer to the D, F or M train.

Rockaway Park special A Train service is also suspended. Customers should instead take the A Train to Broad Channel and transfer to S Shuttle.
