Two 3-Year-Old Boys Found Wandering Streets Alone In Brooklyn, Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two 3-year-old boys were found wandering the streets alone Thursday.
Fortunately for their families, they ended up in the hands of the NYPD.
The first boy was found shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday in Brownsville, Brooklyn, wearing a white and orange T-shirt, blue jeans, and white and gray socks.
He was near the corner of Livonia Avenue and Herzl Street when three people in a car passed by and realized the child was alone, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reports. They put him in the car, and a 35-year-old man brought him into Kings County Hospital.
Police in the 73rd Precinct located the boy's parents.
The child's grandmother was supposed to be watching him, but he somehow got out of the house while she was sleeping, CBS2's Jessica Layton reported. When the grandmother woke up, she thought child's mother had taken him, but that wasn't the case.
Meanwhile, police in Queens found another 3-year-old boy Thursday.
Zhang Chen was found at 163rd Street and Crocheron Avenue in Flushing just after noon.
About 90 minutes later, police received a call from the child's parents who were frantically looking for the boy.
The family told CBS2's Jessica Layton that Chen's mother left their house to do laundry and didn't realize he followed her. She thought he was home with his father, who thought he was out with his mother.
The big misunderstanding caused a panic when the mother came home an hour and a half later.
The 109th Precinct posted a picture to Twitter of Chen being reunited with his parents.
"All is well," police said.
No charges have been filed in either case.
