Brooklyn Boy Dies Days After Being Pulled From Pool At Tenafly JCC
TENAFLY, NJ. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Brooklyn boy has died days after he was pulled out of a swimming pool at a Jewish Community Center in New Jersey.
Tenafly police say Michael Placide died Sunday at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Police said a 911 call came in around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, indicating that a boy was pulled from the water in cardiac arrest at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. When first responders arrived on the scene, a lifeguard was already performing CPR, officials said. EMS crews then took over.
"Our thoughts, prayers and strength go to the family at this difficult time," the center wrote on its Facebook page on Monday. "We as a community mourn this tragic loss."
The boy was first taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, and was then transferred to the intensive care unit at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack.
He turned 9 while in the hospital.
