Boomer & Carton: A Transformation, A Couple Of 1st-Place Teams And More

The Mets and the Yankees were both in action on the West Coast Monday night. Both teams scored seven runs, both teams won - and because of all that, both teams find themselves sitting in first place in their respective divisions.

So after briefly discussing Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover, where the transgender Olympic gold medalist reintroduced herself to the world, Boomer and Craig provided some reaction to the baseball locals' success out on the "left" coast.

After another great start courtesy of Jacob deGrom - during which the reigning NL Rookie of the Year was perfect through five innings - the Dynamic Radio Duo couldn't help but be excited about the prospects of a bright future for the team they both love (or at least Boomer loves, anyway).  With that said, the guys wondered what, if anything, the Mets will do to improve this team before the July 31 trade deadline.

Craig's "other favorite team," the Yankees, got a grand slam from Mark Teixeira and a solid outing from Michael Pineda upon his return to Seattle.  Back at home in the Bronx, the Bombers grounds crew is busy getting Yankee Stadium ready for Wednesday night's True Blue Charity Softball Game, which had the guys talking about the celebrity-studded roster as they look forward to what promises to be a great event.

Finally, word is Rangers winger Mats Zuccarello suffered a brain contusion against the Penguins in Game 5 that left him unable to speak for days.  Despite the terrifying injury, Zuccarello expects to be back on the ice with the Blueshirts next season, which is great news on many levels.
