Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal Pushes For Positive Train Control
NEW HAVEN, C.T. (CBSNewYork) -- Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling for positive train control technology to be installed at all stations along the Metro-North and New Haven line.
His call comes just over a month after an NJ TRANSIT train slammed into the Hoboken Terminal, killing one person and injuring more than 100 others.

Not a single train station along the line has the positive train control technology, WCBS 880's Fran Schneidau reported.
Implementing it would cost millions of dollars.
"The point is: pay now or pay much more later if there are crashes, and deaths and injuries such as we saw at Hoboken and Philadelphia -- crashes that are preventable by positive train control," Blumenthal said.
The senator said most of the cost would be covered by funding from the Federal Railroad Administration.
He is urging the administration to require the safety feature at all stations.
