Bill Cosby Shows At Tarrytown Music Hall Postponed
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two planned shows by Bill Cosby at the Tarrytown Music Hall have been postponed to an unspecified later date.
The shows had been set for this coming Saturday, and the embattled actor and comic had offered refunds to ticket holders who don't want to go.
But Cosby and his promoter have now agreed to cancel the shows and hold them later.
"Bill Cosby, in consultation with the promoter, has agreed to postpone his Music Hall performances to a later date. All ticket holders will be refunded in full," the Tarrytown Music Hall said in a statement.
The shows had been scheduled long before the current flare-up of decades-old sexual assault allegations and the cancelling of his TV comeback, CBS2's Lou Young reported on November 20.
The executive director of the Tarrytown Music Hall, however, told CBS2 that cancelling the show altogether wouldn't really hurt Cosby financially since the comedian will get paid regardless if he performs or not because of his contract.
Ticket holders had asked for refunds for the nearly sold-out shows, but the musical hall's executive director said they could not afford to give them or turn Cosby away. Instead, they initially offered to create an open seat protest list and give it to the comedian after the show, Young reported.
Cosby shows in some other states were canceled after women came forward alleging he sexually assaulted them. But more than 30 shows remain on his schedule through May 2015.
Foxwoods Resort Casino has also indefinitely postponed Cosby's concert appearance that was scheduled for January.
Cosby has denied the allegations against him.
