Bernie Sanders: Obama Hasn't Closed 'Huge Gap' Between Congress, American People
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Sen. Bernie Sanders took a shot at President Barack Obama in an interview with MSNBC.
The Vermont senator, coming off his resounding victory over Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary, said Obama hasn't closed the presidential leadership gap.
"There's a huge gap right now between Congress and the American people. What presidential leadership is about closing that gap," the Democratic presidential hopeful told MSNBC.
Sanders believes that Obama has made an "effort" to close the gap, but has failed to do so.
"But I think what we need, when I talk about a political revolution, is bringing millions and millions of people into the political process in a way that does not exist right now," he said.
Sanders met with the Rev. Al Sharpton in New York on Tuesday as the two had breakfast at Sylvia's in Harlem.
Sharpton has yet to make an endorsement.
Sanders will be facing off against Clinton in another Democratic presidential debate on Thursday.
