Bergen County Substitute Teacher Arrested On Child Porn Charges

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities in New Jersey announced Tuesday the arrest of a substitute teacher for charges of possessing and distributing videos depicting child sexual exploitation.

Zachary A. Smith, 24, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child according to Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

According to authorities, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit, with assistance from members of the Cyber Crimes Task Force, executed a search warrant at Smith's home on Donor Avenue Tuesday.

The arrest is the result of a month-long investigation relating to videos depicting child pornography on the internet, according to authorities.

Evidence was seized from Smith's home, and the the investigation revealed that Smith used the internet to access, view, and share sexually explicit videos of prepubescent and pubescent females, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Bail has been set at $75,000. Smith is set to appear in Bergen County court Wednesday morning.
