82-year-old woman killed in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn house fire
NEW YORK -- A woman died after a house fire in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Flames broke out at a home on Avenue O near West Fifth Street in Bensonhurst just after 4 a.m. Saturday.
Police say an 82-year-old woman was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. She later died from her injuries.
A firefighter was also taken to a local hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury. Two other firefighters and three civilians suffered minor injuries.
More than 100 members of the FDNY responded to the fire, which was mainly on the second floor of the house.
The cause is under investigation.
