Ben Affleck Refused To Wear A Yankees Hat For New Film

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- We all know that Ben Affleck is a Boston guy, through and through.

The actor lives and dies with the Red Sox, and absolutely refuses to associate himself with the hated Yankees.

The Oscar winner tries to disguise himself at a New York airport by wearing a cap in his new film, "Gone Girl," which comes out on Friday. He was OK getting nude for the role, but one thing he wouldn't do?

Wear a Yankees hat.

"That was the only fight (director) David (Fincher) and I had," Affleck told the New York Times, "and it was a legitimate fight."

Fincher succumbed to Affleck's request -- er, demand -- and allowed the Cambridge, Mass. native to wear a Mets hat instead.

"I said, 'David, I love you, I would do anything for you,'" Affleck told the newspaper. "'But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can't. I can't wear it because it's going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can't do it.' And I couldn't put it on my head."

Say what you will, but one thing's for sure: Affleck is a TRUE fan. Like him or not, you have to respect that.
