Abandoned Baby Found At Construction Site In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 3-month-old boy was found abandoned at a construction site in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning.

The baby was found at around 8:30 a.m. at the site, located at New York Avenue near Lenox Road in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

A construction worker heard the boy crying and recovered him. It is unclear how long the boy was at the site before he was found.

"That's reckless endangerment," another worker, Damian Stewart, told CBS2's Marc Liverman. "You shouldn't do that. That's wickedness. You could give it up to adoption. You could call the police, drop it off at a fire station. You could even bring it to the hospital."

A 26-year-old woman, who is believed to be the boy's mother, was taken to Kings County Hospital for a psychological evaluation, sources told CBS2. No charges were immediately filed against her.

The baby is in good condition and was taken to SUNY Downstate Medical Center for observation.

The Administration for Children's Services was investigating the incident.
