Woman Delivers Baby At NY-Bound Amtrak Station, Police Say
ABERDEEN, M.D. (CBSNewYork) -- An Amtrak train bound for New York made an emergency stop this weekend after a woman went into labor on board.
According to police, a northbound Amtrak train made an emergency stop in Aberdeen, Maryland after Sheera Lowe, of Philadelphia, went into labor. Lowe was traveling from North Carolina after visiting her husband, according to officials.
Police said he baby was due on March 4th, but Lowe went into labor just as the train was leaving Baltimore on Feb. 20.
Aberdeen police and fire department officials responded to the scene, where the delivered a newborn baby girl.
Police said the child, named Trinity Christina Stokes, was born at 6:01 p.m. on Feb. 20, weighing 8 lbs., 9 ounces.
Lowe and her new baby were taken to Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after the child was born.
Lowe told Aberdeen police her daughter's middle name is the same as the first name of a female passenger from New York who helped her through the trip.
