V. Stiviano Files Police Report Claiming Assault In New York City

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the scandal surrounding Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, filed a police report Monday after being allegedly assaulted in Manhattan.

Police confirmed to CBS 2 that Stiviano filed a police report alleging misdemeanor assault. Police said they were also investigating the alleged incident as a possible hate crime.

"Detectives from the Hate Crime Unit of the NYPD interviewed her and are investigating the matter," said Stiviano's attorney, Mac Nehoray.

Nehoray said says she was attacked by two men Sunday night as she left a restaurant in the Meatpacking District.

He said the men followed Stiviano, punched her in the face and called her a series of "disgusting slurs," CBS Los Angeles reported.

Nehoray said her face is now red and swollen. She reportedly saw a doctor, but did not contact police. Nehoray told CNN she didn't immediately file a police report because "she had to get out of there."

Stiviano, who allegedly recorded Sterling making racist comments, is set to appear on "Anderson Cooper 360" in New York on Monday. Nehoray said she will appear on the show as planned, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million after the release of a recording.

Sterling's lawyers said he intends to sue the NBA for $1 billion in the wake of the news that his estranged wife had reached an agreement to sell the team and that he had been ruled mentally incompetent.
