Police: At Least 5 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash On Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A multi-vehicle crash was snarling traffic in both directions on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near Queens Boulevard on Monday afternoon.
Police told CBS 2's Joe Biermann that at least five people were injured in the crash, which involved at least four vehicles on the northbound side.
None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
According to police, one vehicle, a Toyota Prius, may have been going westbound in the eastbound lanes of the BQE just before a head-on collision near the Broadway exit. He collided with a Chrysler and a Mercedes.
Police said that because officers did not observe the car driving the wrong way the driver would not be given a summons, 1010 WINS reported.
Traffic on both the northbound and southbound lanes was at a standstill around 5:15 p.m.
