Art Is In The Air At Governors Island Art Fair

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Art lovers rejoice!

The seventh annual Governors Island Art Fair got underway Saturday.

Every weekend for the month of September appreciators of the arts can view 100 rooms of paintings, photography, sculpture, video and sound art at the abandoned military barracks, 1010 WINS reported.

The event is free and open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays this month.

Several of the artists featured in this year's fair include Sui Park's organic and architectural Thought Bubbles, Will Kurtz's playful Artie and Lenny, Harsha Biswajit's video sculpture The Animal is Absent, Randy Polumbo's whimsical glass and industrial metal Two Flower, Katte Geneta's mediative chalk-and-volcanic ash drawing Cosmos No. 3, and Laetitia Soulier's toy-like dream world Square Roots.

Governors Island is easily accessible by ferries from downtown Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront.
