Andy Kim and Curtis Bashaw in the race to replace former Sen. Bob Menendez

NEW YORK -- Democratic Rep. Andy Kim and Republican businessman Curtis Bashaw are in the race to replace convicted New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez

Both candidates sat down with CBS News New York's Political Reporter Marcia Kramer for a conversation Sunday on "The Point."

They focused on the 2024 presidential election and what it could mean for taxes and Social Security, as well as the rhetoric in the race.

Sen. Bob Menendez stepped down earlier this year following his conviction on federal bribery charges. Gov. Phil Murphy appointed his former chief of staff to fill the seat until the election.
