A-Rod Joins 3,000-Hit Club With Homer Against Tigers

New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez recorded his 3,000th hit on Friday with a home run in the first inning against Detroit at Yankee Stadium.
The solo shot came off Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander.
It's the latest milestone for A-Rod, who passed Willie Mays for fourth on the all-time home runs list on May 7. He later passed Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Barry Bonds on the career RBIs list, and is second only to Hank Aaron.
After missing all of last season due to a drug suspension, Rodriguez has been productive in the middle of the order for the Yankees in 2015, batting his way into the conversation for the upcoming All-Star Game.
The last Yankees player to join the 3,000 hits club was Derek Jeter in 2011. He retired after the 2014 season with a franchise record 3,465 hits.
