7 Charged With Selling Designer Knock-Offs In NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Seven people are facing charges in New York City after authorities seized over $2 million worth of fake designer bags, watches, sunglasses, clothes and other goods.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown made the announcement Thursday along with the police commissioner and a federal Customs official.

The investigation began over the summer. Knock-offs seized at storage locations in Jamaica, Queens, bore fake logos of designers like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci and Prada.

Authorities say the suspects sold dozens of items to undercover operatives.

The law enforcers were aided by a private investigation agency that represents numerous brands.
