4-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Pool During Backyard Barbecue On Long Island

SHIRLEY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 4-year-old boy drowned Saturday night in a swimming pool at a backyard barbecue in Shirley, Long Island.

Justin McConville was found at the bottom of a 4-foot above-ground pool at 7:11 p.m., police said. The boy was pulled from the pool, and the family started to perform CPR until an ambulance arrived.

Justin was rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

The barbecue was being hosted by friends of the boy's mother at 44 Alcolade Dr. East

Police are investigating.
