Taking a look at who's hot and who's not on the NY/NJ sports landscape:
THREE UP:
1. Islanders
After (gasp!) losing a game in Washington, the Isles bounced back and handed the Devils their fourth straight loss. They're now 17-7 on the year.
2. Former Rangers
Ryan Callahan's Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Rangers on Monday night, sweeping the season series. The Blueshirts have otherwise been playing much better hockey as of late, though there's still plenty of work to be done.
3. Former Devils
Monday was a good day for Martin Brodeur and Scott Gomez. Brodeur appears to be on the verge of signing a contract with the St. Louis Blues, while Gomez rejoined the Devils after deserting them for Broadway in 2007.
THREE DOWN:
1. MetLife Tenants
The Jets and Giants both continue to spiral out of control. You have to think the head coaches of both teams could be on their way out when the season's over.
2. Red Bulls
Getting eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals was one thing, but the news that Thierry Henry would be leaving the Red Bulls was an even bigger blow.
3. New York Hoops
It might be time for the Knicks to look into a different polygon. Meanwhile, the Nets are learning that having a huge payroll doesn't automatically translate into success. The two teams face off against each other on Tuesday night at MSG.
