3 Times LeBron 'The King' James Has Dealt With Cramps
The Miami Heat dropped Game 1 of the 2014 NBA Finals last night 110-95 after the AC broke at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. LeBron James has to leave the game because of cramps (drops jokes/cues here) and the Spurs were able to capitalize. Leaving the game because of cramps is something James is familiar with. He has done it in the past which makes me wonder about NBA and MLB athlete injuries in generally.
Are they too soft? Kobe played with a torn Achilles, MJ played with the flu, Gregory Campbell of the NHL Boston Bruins played on a broken leg and Derek Stepan of the New York Rangers is playing with a broken jaw. With that being said, here are 3 instances where cramps have taken out the "King" a nickname James gave himself.
3. October 30th, 2012 vs. Boston Celtics
James missed most of the second half of the Heat's opening night game against the Boston Celtics at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami due to cramps in both legs. The first game of the season you get cramps and have to sit out? Did you not just have time off? Can you stock up on water and gatorade? Despite the cramps, LeBron finished with 26 points, the Heat won 120-107 and all was right in the NBA. LBJ showed the world that even "Kings" get cramps too. #themoreyouknow
2. June 19th, 2012 Game 4 2012 NBA Finals vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
He missed time in Game 4 but was able to come back in and make a decisive three-point shot. Obviously. Just adding to the drama that is LeBron James vs. everybody else. The King vs. the world. Obviously he would come back in people, straight textbook play. Adding to his greatness and legacy because he is playing through an injury. #kingdoingkingthings[/caption]
1. June 5th, 2014 Game 1 2014 NBA Finals vs. San Antonio Spurs
Not again! Sound the alarms! Call in the guards! The King has gone down and as a result the mighty mighty Heat lost! OH NO! Cramps. Just a pesky injury that won't go away. Somebody get the guy an IV already and make sure there is a portable AC for the King next time. He has, "never played in a building" like that. You can't expect his body to adjust that quickly, he isn't a magician. Where's the kings guard when you need him? #kingcanthandletheheat
