3 Hospitalized After Cab Jumps Upper East Side Curb
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Three people were hospitalized after a cab jumped a curb on the Upper East Side Saturday morning.
The taxi was traveling southbound on York Avenue between 78th and 79th streets when it slammed into a hardware store called 'Basic Plus'. The impact broke glass but not the structure of the store, police said.
Witnesses told WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola that the accident did not appear to be the driver's fault.
"He was not speeding, one, number two he was not on the telephone. Number three, he doesn't look like the type of man that would be drinking alcohol at 10 a.m. on a Saturday," Kathy Spiegel said.
Two pedestrians and the driver suffered minor injuries and were taken to New York Hospital. A grandmother and a child who were in the vicinity of the accident were treated at the scene, according to authorities.
