JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A road rage incident that began in New York City ended with the arrests of three men in a traffic jam outside the Holland Tunnel in New Jersey, police said.
The dispute began as a car and a van tried to merge into the tunnel in Manhattan around 2 p.m. Thursday, Port Authority Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.
The vehicles emerged and got stuck in traffic in Jersey City.
The driver, 43-year-old Byron Simpson of Plainfield, and a passenger, 28-year-old Daniel Vaghn of Plainfield, emerged from the car and started to beat the driver of the van, who was armed with a box cutter, Pentangelo said.
The van's driver, identified as Norbert Lozaro, 28, of Elizabeth, was treated for facial injuries.
All three are charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault.
The van's driver and the passenger also had outstanding warrants for bail violations, Pentangelo said.
