2 U.S. Marines From New York Killed In North Carolina Car Crash

NEW BERN, N.C. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two U.S. Marines from New York were killed in a traffic accident in North Carolina earlier this week.

Nicholas S. Buscarnera, of Mastic Beach, and Skyler D. Way, of Gouverneur, were killed after the car they were in crashed into a canal just off Catfish Lake Road in Craven County, N.C. Both men were 19 years old.

U.S. Forest Service Officer Steve Barrette said he found the vehicle upside down and partially submerged in the canal.

The accident occurred late Monday or early Tuesday.

Camp Lejeune officials said the men were assigned to 2nd Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group.
