2 Men Arrested In Series Of Long Island Robberies

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Two men were arrested for a series of robberies on Long Island.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, it began with a traffic stop that ended up with Nassau police arresting the two men for a string of robberies in Hempstead, Freeport and Uniondale.

Sgt. John Giambrone said the men targeted business owners, believing they had large amounts of cash on them.

The duo followed the owners and robbed them either in the street or at their homes.

"On Burr Avenue in Hempstead, the victim in that robbery owns a deli in Roosevelt.  Also on Nov. 9, on Spencer Place in Hempstead, the victim in that robbery owned a bakery in Hempstead," Giambrone said.
