2 Found Dead, Cyanide Detected In Sheepshead Bay Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man and woman were found dead Monday afternoon in an apartment in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.

Testing determined that cyanide was fond in the apartment.

The FDNY EMS told CBS 2 the 43-year-old man and 44-year-old woman were found dead in the living room of 3030 Emmons Ave. in Brooklyn around 12:45 p.m.

The man was identified as Michael Huhem, who lived in a unit at the Emmons Avenue building. The woman was identified as Kimberly Owens of Crosby, Texas.

Huhem's body was found on the sofa, Owens' on the floor, police said. The relationship between the pair was not immediately learned.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the specific cause of their deaths.

Police said a suspicious substance was found on a table near the victims' bodies. The city Department of Environmental Protection determined that the substance was cyanide.

Portions of the apartment building were evacuated.
