A 13-year-old was also shot once in the leg and once in the torso. He is expected to survive, Hall reported.

One resident at the housing complex said it's been a tough and tragic couple weeks in the neighborhood.

"I think it was maybe less than a week ago, right here on Marcy Avenue, there was shootings. It's like a common thing now," he said.

The two boys were sitting on a bench in a courtyard of the complex at the time of the shooting, CBS2 reported.

"Some of my neighbors told me they heard like, seven shots. It's tragic," the resident told Hall.

Police took about a dozen men from a nearby apartment into custody. But so far, no arrests have been made.

Police are still investigating a motive.
