Cop Injured By Bike Thrown From Brooklyn Apartment Window

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Several police officers were injured after a child's bicycle was thrown from an upper floor of a Brooklyn apartment building early Sunday morning and a scuffle ensued, police said.

The officer was responding to a man firing a gun in Brooklyn around 2 a.m. Sunday when someone began tossing debris from a balcony at 959 Saint Mark's Avenue in Crown Heights.

Police say the bike was thrown from a window or balcony of the building. The officer who was struck suffered lacerations to his head and was taken to Kings County Hospital Center in stable condition, police told 1010 WINS.

According to the New York Daily News, police arrested the individual firing the shots. A second person was taken into custody, but it wasn't immediately clear if either was the person who tossed the bike.

Some other officers were injured in a confrontation with people at the location, police told 1010 WINS. It was not clear how many cops were hurt.
