1-Year-Old Boy Grazed By Bullet In Brooklyn Shooting
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A 1-year-old boy is recovering after being grazed by a bullet Saturday in Brooklyn.
Police swarmed the area of Sutter Avenue and Junius Street in Brownsville around 5:15 p.m., searching for the suspect.
A 20-year-old man was also shot in the right thigh. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital. It's unclear whether he was the intended target.
Witness Noel Love told CBS2's Marc Liverman he heard what sounded like seven shots.
"You see the kids, they're yelling. Some guy, he's bleeding up the block," he said.
The 1-year-old boy, who was with his mother and grandmother, was rushed to Kings County Hospital.
Moments after the shots rang out, witnesses said the older victim made his way down the sidewalk to a convenience store before collapsing on the pavement outside.
"He had his hand on top of his head, and the ambulance picked him up," Saidou Ba said.
Police said so far, the man is not cooperating with investigators.
"I have two kids, it's broad daylight. It's scary to not be able to walk around in broad daylight in your neighborhood," neighbor Tajanee Lawrence said. "It's summertime and you can't even be outside with your kids."
Police are searching for a black man in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a slim build and shoulder-length braids. He was last seen wearing all black.
