1 Man Stabbed With Broom, Another Slashed In Hell's Kitchen
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An after-school gathering turned into a brawl Tuesday afternoon in Hell's Kitchen.
One man was chased out of a bodega on 10th Avenue and 52nd Street and stabbed with the broken edge of a broom outside of a wine bar, CBS 2's Jessica Schneider reported.
The attack happened around 3:30 p.m., right after school let out for the day.
The victim, Carlos Muentes, 19, was stabbed in the back according to his father, and another man was slashed, Schneider reported.
Muentes was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center in serious condition, while the slashing victim was taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, police said.
Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
"He was stabbed in the back, he got fractured lungs but he'll be all right," Muentes' father told Schneider.
Muentes' father said his son was chased by a group from a public school, 1010 WINS' Kevin Rincon reported.
"They're always there, there always there," he said. "Those kids are from public school. They're always starting trouble, so."
Detectives were inside the restaurant near where the attack happened reviewing surveillance video from the corner, but so far no arrests have been made, Schneider reported.
