1 Dead, 6 Firefighters Injured In South Toms River Blaze
SOUTH TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities said a house fire in South Toms River Monday claimed the life of one person and sent six firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters were searching for a trapped person in the home on South Main Street in South Toms River around 5:30 p.m. Monday, when they were injured.
KYW-TV, Philadelphia's Chopper 3 showed several fire companies and medic units on scene.
Ocean County Fire Coordinator Brian Gabriel said the firefighters suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and one had glass in his eye.
The firefighters were taken to Barnabas Health Community Medical Center in Toms River with non-life-threatening injuries, CBS Philly reported.
The name of the deceased victim was not released Monday, pending positive identification.
