Newark school bus collides with stolen car

NEWARK, N.J. - A school bus was involved in a collision with another vehicle Wednesday morning. 

It happened at Branford Place near Treat Place in Newark at around 9:45 a.m. 

 

Officials: Stolen car involved in crash

The accident involved a school bus and a car officials say was stolen. 

The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at Branford Place near Broad Street. 

School bus involved in crash in Newark

Newark's public safety director says the underage driver and two passengers in the stolen car ran off. They were later caught by police. 

Eleven students from Central High School were on board the bus, as well as a teacher and a teacher's aide. They were heading to a field trip. 

No injuries were reported, but the bus driver did complain of some pain.

Chopper 2 was over the scene on Branford Place near Treat Place. 

Video showed the bus behind two cars. The cars had apparently collided. 

It was not immediately clear if the bus was struck. 

Numerous emergency responders were at the scene.
