FDNY battles stubborn fire at Queens auto parts store

NEW YORK - Crews watched for hot spots Wednesday afternoon after a stubborn fire at an auto parts store in Glendale, Queens.

Flames broke out around 6 a.m. at the building on Metropolitan Avenue near Woodhaven Boulevard.

The FDNY says firefighters had to retreat from inside the building because of heavy fire conditions and battle the flames from outside.

Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
