Police searching for alleged killer after 3 women found stabbed to death inside Queens home

NEW YORK -- The NYPD is searching for the suspect in the stabbing deaths of three women in Queens.

They were found Friday morning in Springfield Gardens.

As CBS2's Dave Carlin reports, a police spokesperson called the incident "isolated" and "domestic" in nature with no immediate risk to the public.

Relatives and friends were comforting each other Friday evening and trying to come to grips with an immense loss.

"Just sadness, that's it," one person said.

The multi-family home on a tidy middle class street in Springfield Gardens is now a terrible crime scene after the three women were found stabbed to death in their bedrooms.

The victims are a 68-year-old native of Kingston, Jamaica, her 47-year-old daughter and her 26-year-old stepdaughter. The youngest woman had severe health issues and used a wheelchair.

"The way they died was so harsh and horrible. No one should go like that at all," neighbor Liza Colon told CBS2's Tony Aiello.

A knife was left behind at the home on 182nd Street, according to police.

Police said a home health attendant, who cared for the stepdaughter, showed up for work around 10:40 a.m. and discovered the bodies.

"They're good people," said a man who knew the women. 

Mayor Eric Adams visited the crime scene and was briefed on the details. He left without talking to reporters.

Police sources tell us they are seeking a person of interest -- a younger male relative.

"I don't know what's going on in this world today, man. Everything's crazy," said neighbor Garfield McDonald. 

Neighbors say the 68-year-old victim was hard-working and devoted to her family.

Police sources said the person of interest may be driving the older woman's vehicle.
