Breaking down the causes of road rage; Manhunt continues

One injured in Queens road rage shooting

Police are looking for the person who fired multiple shots into a car with passengers during a road rage incident in Queens Thursday morning.

Rush-hour road-rage led to gunshots in one Queens neighborhood Thursday morning.

"That's outrageous. City is getting crazy, everyone in a rush to go nowhere. Got to slow down and respect everyone that's driving," one man said.

Crime scene tape lined parts of Cypress Hills Street near the entrance to the Jackie Robinson Parkway after multiple shots were fired into a white sedan while two-men were inside, a bullet grazing one of them.

"Put the guns down, seriously," a man said.

Police say one driver cut off the other, an argument ensued, then shots were fired.

At least five bullet holes could be seen on the car.

"That's insane," one person said.

The NYPD says they don't specifically track all road rage incidents, but officers Bisram talked with say they have been seeing and responding to more lately.

"I seen a lot of road rage incidents," one person said.

According to AAA, from 2017 to 2021, there were 5,831 crashes in New York City caused by aggressive driving and road rage.

"I feel afraid," Luis Herrera said.

Research by mental health doctors show some people are more prone to getting angry behind the wheel because of day to day stress, anxiety and high anger traits. They recommend keep driving if someone gets hostile.

"Just avoid it at all costs. Continue your day somehow," Steven Diaz said.

"Get some more humanity back in the world. We have to start loving again. It's rough right now," one person said.

Back at the Glendale intersection where shots were fired, police say the gunman is still at large.

Thankfully, the victim is expected to survive.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.

Gunman blasted target vehicle with at least 5 shots

It's a case of rush hour road rage in Queens.

Police are on the hunt for a man who opened fire on a driver Thursday morning after being cut off on a busy roadway.

As CBS2's Jennifer Bisram reports, police say the shooting was definitely the result of road rage. It happened on the busy roadway as people were on their way to work.

Detectives say a driver was upset he got cut off, and went off - firing multiple shots.

"That's outrageous. City is getting crazy, everyone in a rush to go nowhere. Got to slow down and respect everyone that's driving," one man said.

The rush hour road age ended in gunshots Thursday morning.

"That's insane," one person said.

As for the gunman, investigators say he took off.

"I saw many times driver come out and go to the other window, fighting," Herrera said.

While the NYPD does not track specific road rage incidents, several officers Bisram talked with say they have been seeing and responding to them more often.
