Zach Braff taps Bon Iver for "Wish I Was Here" soundtrack

Zach Braff knows a thing or two about letting music set the tone for movies.

The "Garden State" soundtrack is proof of that with memorable scenes that featured songs by the Shins, Frou Frou and Simon & Garfunkel. Remember Natalie Portman's line about the Shins' song "New Slang" that "could change your life"?

Now Braff is trying to capture that magic again for his upcoming film, "Wish I Was Here," with the Shins, Cat Power, Paul Simon and more making appearances on the soundtrack.

Braff also recruited the talents of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon for the movie. The new song, called "Heavenly Father," premiered on NPR on Monday.

The soundtrack will arrive on July 15, three days before the movie hits theaters.

The "Wish I Was Here" cast includes Kate Hudson, Jim Parsons, "Frozen" star Josh Gad, Braff's "Scrubs" co-star Donald Faison, Ashley Greene and late "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" star James Avery.

A Kickstarter campaign helped fund the movie with with Braff's fans contributing more than $3 million to the project.
