Report: 51-year-old woman shot in head after looking out her window

ALLENTOWN, Penn. -- A 51-year-old woman was hit by a bullet in Pennsylvania early on Saturday when she looked out a window of her home, police have said.

The incident happened around shortly after 2 a.m. in Allentown, The Morning Call reports. The bullet skimmed the woman’s head without penetrating her skull and she had moderate injuries, police told the newspaper.

The woman told police she was in a rear room on the second floor of her home when she heard voices in the back of her house, Allentown police Capt. Bill Reinik told the paper. She saw four people when she looked out the window, heard a noise and then felt something hit her head.

She was wounded by a bullet from a small-caliber handgun, officers and paramedics discovered, according to Reinik.

Detectives determined that the shooting wasn’t random, but targeted, and detectives were working to find out why, Reinik said.

The woman couldn’t identify the four people she said she saw when she looked out the window.
