Widow in Fla. cinema slaying says her world is "shattered"

Wife of Fla. theater shooting victim: "My whole world just got shattered"

TAMPA, Fla. - The wife of a man who was shot and killed during an argument over texting at a Florida movie theater says her "whole world just got shattered into a million pieces."

Nicole Oulson cried during a news conference Wednesday at her attorney's office in Tampa.

She says she's recovering from being shot in the hand, and is focusing on her nearly 2-year-old daughter.

She and her husband, Chad Oulson, were in a movie theater in Wesley Chapel, Fla. Jan. 13 when he was shot during an argument with another man.

Curtis Reeves, a 71-year-old retired police officer, is charged with the second-degree murder and is being held without bail.

Friends of the couple say Oulson was texting their daughter's babysitter when the fight erupted during movie previews.

Nicole Oulson thanked the public and her community Wednesday for supporting her and her family during what she called a “horrible time of grief and sadness.”

“It’s so hard and it’s so unbearable. But I want to thank you all for your thoughts and your prayers,” she said.
